Hoosier Hometown Live
Hoosier Hometown Live, a radio variety show filled with down-home music, tall tales and a variety of other nonsense, is performed in front of a live audience at the historic Mitchell Opera House. The show premiered in February 2016 to great reviews by people of all ages. This second show promises to be just as packed with old-time excitement and new-time creativity. Local musical talent inspires the audience to tap their toes and often sing along. Voice actors and sound effects performers spin tales of historical fiction including some downright lies to improve the plot. Engaging interviews showcase real life characters, and we mean characters, who talk about their roles in the hometown history of local communities.
Hosted by Gary Spear and Mark Bryant, youll love all the cast of Hoosier Hometown Live. Larry Hollan at the piano accompanies the voice antics of Cassie Corp, Imogene Dedrick, and Tom Bostic as Matthew Canada, Steve Corp and Austin Malone provide sound effects and vocals. The Lick Creek Band brings a wide variety of musical selections as Tim Key joins them on banjo and the Breeding Sisters share their heartfelt, gospel songs. With stage management by Curt and Beth Parsley and tech support by Brian Sherwood, this second edition of Hoosier Hometown Live will charm you to laugh, to sing and maybe even to shed a sentimental tear, if that wouldnt embarrass you too much.
The show is produced by the Mitchell Community Public Library in cooperation with Hoosier Uplands, Mitchell Opera House, and WBIW (1340 AM) / WQRK (105.5 FM), which will broadcast the show live to radio listeners. The show will be Friday evening, May 13th, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are only $7 and can be purchased at the Mitchell library or by going online or here on our website.
