Evening @ the Barn - Douglas Fairbanks: The First King of Hollywood
Author Tracey Goessel reveals new facets to superstar Douglas Fairbanks for our May 11th Evening @ the Barn. Goessel will share intriguing and little known facts about Fairbanks not found in the book. The lecture will be followed by a screening of his 1916 film, "The Half Breed".
Irrepressible whirlwind Fairbanks co-founded United Artists, Pickford-Fairbanks Studio, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences after he conquered Hollywood as its first action hero.
One of the Twentieth Centurys seminal figures of masculinity and motion pictures, swashbuckling hero Douglas Fairbanks sexy athleticism in big budget costume pictures led the way to todays chiseled superheroes of box office blockbusters.
The evening includes a special one night only exhibition of rare and unusual Fairbanks memorabilia from Goessels own collection. Our popular $1 raffle benefiting our acquisition fund will feature an excellent selection of DVDs from Flicker Alleys silent film releases. Refreshments will be available before the show and during intermission. See you at the barn!
