A Concert for Refugees: U.N. Chamber Music Society World Premiere

presents a Benefit Concert for Refugees
The United Nations Chamber Group makes its debut to support the outreach work of Theatre 167, a company that dedicates itself to giving voice to diverse and unheard voices, and to support the refugee cause. All proceeds will be shared equally with the American Refugee Committee, a group that is rated A+ by CharityWatch and rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator, and is doing urgently needed work in the world today.
Help Theatre 167 bring work into underserved communities and continue its work with international and refugee populations, and help the ARC do it work around the world.
Message of the UN Secretary-General will be delivered by Ms. Ninette Kelley, New York Representative of the UN Refugees Agency (UNHCR) who will be present to make remarks.
About Theatre 167 A multilingual, multicultural ensemble, Theatre 167 most recently shed light on the international fistula epidemic and the brutal traditions impacting girls and women around the world with its premiere of MOURNING SUN and also raised funds to support several fistula surgeries in Africa through audience outreach.

About The Artists BRENDA VONGOVA, Pianist Founder and President of the Chamber Music Society of United Nations Staff Recreation Council, Brenda Vongovais a concert pianist and choral soprano who has performed at internationally renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Harvard Universitys Sanders Theatre, and the United Nations.She performed the world premiere of the Piano Concerto for the United Nations in celebration of the 70thanniversary of the United Nations with the United Nations Symphony Orchestra in May 2015.She has also spent several years teaching classical piano to the blind, the visually impaired, the disabled, and children from underprivileged communities. Ms. Vongova received the foundations of her music education at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada.She holds a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studieswith concentrations in Performing Arts and European Studies from the University of California.While pursuing graduate studies at Harvard, Ms. Vongova was invited to join the cabinet of the sixty-second President of the United Nations General Assembly.From there, she continued on to work in the cabinets of two other Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly, the office of the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, as well as the executive office of the United Nations Secretary-General.
ANNE-CHRIS VISSER, Violinist Anne-Chris Visser has studied law and music in Leiden and Rotterdam, and holds a Masters degree in law, and graduated with honors at the Codarts University of the Arts in 2001 in Rotterdam. During here studies, she had performed with several semi-professional orchestras. In 1998, she became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, performing with them internationally. Ms. Visser worked with some very prominent conductors, such as Valery Gergiev, Ilya Musin, Jansung Kakhidze and others. Ms. Visser is currently the concertmaster of the UN Symphony Orchestra and acts as the vice president in its board. She is currently working at the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) as a Legal Officer.
LAURA MUNISTERI, Violinist Laura Munisteri has played with numerous orchestra and chamber music ensembles in the U.S. and Netherlands. She is currently the Chief Investment Officer of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Public and International Affairs, and pursued graduate studies in economics at the London School of Economics.
