The Imaginative Space of the African Horizon
Brooklyn based Ryan Repertory Company, now in it's 43rd season, is proud to present "The Imaginative Space of the African Horizon," a multimedia performance that tells the tales of two young Africans who now live in New York City. "The Imaginative Space of the African Horizon" is written and directed by Rick Pulos and features Jennifer Owusu as Saliya and Lisandra Payan as Adaku in their Ryan Rep debut performances.
Saliya is a beautiful woman that recounts her experiences growing up as the daughter of a nurse running a health care post in a mostly rural area in Zambia and how that life led her to immigrate to the US. Adaku is an intelligent young woman, quite satisfied with her new life in America, who begrudgingly looks back at her past in Malawi where her father ran a lucrative coffin making business. Both characters reveal their past regrets and current pains. Suitable for all ages.
