Anton Chekhov's The Lady with the Little Dog
FINAL PERFORMANCE TODAY! BPT SALES END at NOON on 7 AUGUST! CALL 301-816-1023 For RESERVATIONS After That... Anton Chekhov's "The Lady with the Little Dog" adapted from the short story and directed by Stephanie Mumford

Two strangers in 1901 Yalta--one seeking to escape his boring Moscow routine, the other in quest of a meaningful life beyond Saratov--discover what they have been searching for in each other. But, can they hold on to it? Anton Chekhovs classic short story--his quotidian take on Tolstoys "Anna Karenina"--receives an imaginative staging with live classical Russian music.

Coming off the Helen Hayes-recommended production of her adaptation of Chekhov's "A Little Trick," Mumford uses Russian classical music and artworks by Aivazovsky to create the setting for Chekhov's classic love story, "The Lady with the Little Dog."

Chelsea Mayo, Hannah in QTC's "The Veil" and Irina in Annapolis Shakespeare Company's "Three Sisters," plays the "Lady," Anna Sergeyevna. Ian Blackwell Rogers, recognized for his leading roles in classical productions at Baltimore Shakespeare Factory and Brave Spirits Theatre, plays Anna's suitor, Dmitry Dmitriyevich Gurov. David Dubov, Piet in QTC's "A Lesson from Aloes," Yepikhodov in "The Cherry Orchard," and Andrey in "Afterplay"--Friel's comic sequel to Chekhov's "Three Sisters" and "Uncle Vanya"--plays the Narrator.

Completing the ensemble cast are accomplished musicians, violinist Christine Kharazian and pianist/composer Zach Roberts. They not only create the Chekhovian mood with their moving renditions of Russian classics by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Mussorgsky, but portray the other key roles in story, as well.

Prized by its patrons for its intimate stagings, QTC specializes in productions of naturalistic plays about the truth and beauty in everyday "quotidian" life. This boutique theater caters to those who enjoy thinking about--and discussing with friends after the show--the meaning of a great play. Located within walking distance of Bethesda's renowned restaurant district, there are plenty of fine places to eat and/or drink before or after the play. QTC patrons enjoy a 10-percent discount at nearby Vino Volo on Bethesda Row. On Saturdays and Sundays, parking is free in the public lot directly across from the Writer's Center, where QTC is the resident theater company. QTC is easily accessible by car or metro (Bethesda stop)
