Mystic Chorale - SPIRITUALS AND THE BLUES
Join the 200 voices of the Mystic Chorale this spring as we sing Spirituals and the Blues, focusing on the sacred and secular, two musical cousins that evolved from the African American experience. We will explore the connections between the two the blues side of Spirituals and the spiritual side of the Blues.
We welcome several featured guests this season, including veteran Mystic soloists Louise Grasmere and Sayida Rivers Farmer, who will add their special magic. Our friend, literary musician Regie Gibson will soar with his poem God is a Bluesman, which will be combined with Blind Willie Johnson's The Soul of a Man, featuring the amazing Fred Griffeth. Led byJonathan Singleton, the band will feature fabulous blues guitarist Gary Backstrom. As always, the star of the show will be the singers of the Mystic Chorale!
