Cervantes Requiem
Belgian-born Spanish composer Mateo Romero (c.15751647) wrote a Requiem Mass for 8-part double choir on the occasion of the death of the famous writer and author of Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes. Every year in Barcelona, a special commemoration for Cervantes is celebrated on April 23rd. For many years now, the Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver has observed this commemoration by celebrating Book and Lovers' Day. The Denver Early Music Consort will be performing Romero's Requiem for Cervantes for the first time ever (known) in the City of Denver, in celebration of Book and Lovers' Day on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 at 7:30pm, at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2015 Glenarm Place, Denver, CO 80205. Tickets will be available at the door, $15 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors.
