Jazz Improv Clinic with Art Bakopolus
Open to high school students, college students adults, pros and students of jazz at any age. This is a great opportunity to play with members of AB5, Art's jazz quintet and work with each member on the intricacies of performing in the jazz idiom. Horn players of all kinds, pianists, bassists, guitarists and drummers are all encouraged to take part.
There will be an introduction to the clinic followed by a short Master Class by Art on various ways to approach constructing a consistently good improv solo. Using his techniques, you will never be "fishing" through the chord changes. Rhythm section players will gain a better working knowledge of playing in the small group setting.
After that, everyone will break into groups and "work with the pros!" You will get specialized instruction from some of the areas best jazz players.
We'll end the clinic with an organized jam session and show off what we learned! Come and Meet and Greet with Art Bakopolus and his friends. You'll notice a difference in your playing right away...and so will everyone else!
