The Humanist Project's Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus Titus is one of Shakespeare's first plays. It was one the most popular and most produced of Shakespeare's plays during his lifetime. This play explores the underbelly of civilization, asking us to look at the shadowy corners of the human psyche. Titus takes those human issues that we would rather bury and pretend are not a problem and makes us look at them. It asks us to explore the root of Violence. Titus Andronicus is more relevant then ever in our civilization:
that has been at war for over 10 years where sexual violence is rampant on our campuses, where racial violence is pouring into our streets, where Violence is at epidemic proportions across our country Starring Andrew Borthwick-Leslie Peter Andersen Zach Libresco* Sheila Bandyopadhyay Madeleine Rose Maggio Paul Emile* Kevin Stanfa* Josephine M Wilson* Rose-Emma Lunderman

The Humanist Project Incorporating the full Human experience into our Work, Play, Life and Art
We are all born capable of having and expressing the full range of human experience. In order to fit in, we begin to manage and limit the scope of who we are. Because of this, The Humanist Project believes artists and their communities have become disempowered. We bring only particular parts of our humanity to our work, play, and expression.
Using performance as a vehicle, The Humanist Project is a theater company that is striving to bring our full unedited selves to each performance. We are creating new customs in and out of the studio to unify our voice, play, movement, and thought. We are using these new customs to create original work and stage existing works with humanist themes for public performance. The Humanist Project is interested in a performance style that provokes our audience to ask the same questions we are asking of ourselves, without lecturing or providing answers. We believe that by making the audience a necessary part of performance we awaken that which is already within them. The desire to engage more fully in their Lives, Work and Play.
The Humanist Project is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
