Comedy Benefit for Adrian Balzarini
Adrian Balzarini is a 29 year old mother of one who was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari is a serious neurological disorder where the bottom part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine and causing many symptoms. These symptoms can include severe headaches, loss of fine motor skills, balance problems, and weakness & pain in the arms and legs as well as many others. Estimates for the number of people with Chiari range as high as 500,000 in the United States. A more conservative estimate of 300,000 would mean that 1 in 1,000 people have Chiari, or 0.1% of the population. If left untreated, Chiari can lead to the individual being permanently disabled.
It is recommended that Adrian travel to North Carolina to have decompression surgery done by a neurological specialist. With your help, this can become a reality.
