BitterSweet: A Fruitful Circus
Please remember that this performance is at our NEW studio at 1131-B Siler Road, just around the corner from our old Agua Fria location!!
ABOUT THIS PERFORMANCE:
Do you like your fruit tart or sweet? This becomes a fundamental question in the topsy turvy world of BitterSweet, where we all need to be keeping a close eye on the encroaching vines of the neighbors flowers or do we?
Unicyclers patrol borders, walls are built by fear, clowns discover hidden truths, and teens build human bridges of solidarity that inspire us to... bake pies! BitterSweet is Wise Fools second annual CircAspire production, featuring youth and adult program participants in a pre-professional extravaganza of flight, fancy, and transformation. Acts include clowns, acrobats, stilt- walkers, aerialists, actors, unicyclers, and breakdancers, plus spoken word, visual art, original soundscore, and more! CircAspire 2016 will be directed by Amy Christian and Sarah Jane Moody, with Music Production by Ginger Dunnill along with an all-local creative production team of professional artists.
Wise Fool began the CircAspire program in 2015 to create an opportunity for our pre-professional adult and youth students to level up their performance skills and experience, moving from cabaret-style or kids-only shows to a full length production with professional direction and technical production team. This years show will feature performers spanning five decades who are involved in Wise Fool programs throughout Northern New Mexico. CircAspire 2016 directors, Amy Christian and Sarah Jane Moody, are two long-time professional performing artists, teachers and community activists. A founding member of Wise Fool, Amy has served as artistic director, core artist, producer and administrator since 1989. Sarah Jane, a professional red nose performer and teacher, studied at the DellArte International School of Physical Theater and has been teaching the subtleties of clowning at Wise Fool for over a decade..
CircAspires 2nd annual production promises to thrill and delight, captivate the eyes and the ears, and just might inspire you to grow some flowering vines of connection right here in our local community.
This production is partially funded by the 1% Lodger's Tax and the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission; is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts; and received funding support from the Santa Fe Community Foundation, the City of Santa Fe Children and Youth Commission, and McCune Charitable Foundation.
