Sakura Sakura (2015)  Music Video  4 min English  USA
Directed by Joe Jiang, Starring The Slants

A student visiting the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center sees apparitions of The Slants appear on her smartphone camera. Soon she realizes she is the key to manifesting the band in reality.

An American Hero: Shiro Kashino(2015) Short Documentary  22 min  ENGLISH    USA  Directed by Shannon Gee

Animated short film of the story of Shiro Kashino, a World War II veteran. Shiro and his family were incarcerated at the Minidoka War Relocation Center, and from there Kashino entered the Army as part of the 442nd/100th Battalion. He was a highly decorated war hero who survived suicide missions and was stripped of his rank after stepping in to break up a tavern fight.

Shiro's story appears in the graphic novel FIGHTING FOR AMERICA: NISEI SOLDIERS, written by Lawrence Matsuda and illustrated by Matt Sasaki. The animations are taken directly from Matt Sasaki's work.

As a newly minted drone pilot, Matt Collier enthusiastically flies his first stalk and kill mission, unconcerned that he knows nothing about the enemy target in the crosshairs. But as the hours of surveillance turn into days, then a week, he finds it increasingly difficult to see the target as a mere white dot on the screen. When the strike order finally arrives, Matt must face the very real person behind the pixelated image.

The self-definition of 'disorder' and the medical versus sociopolitical aspects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is explored as the filmmaker finds her own resilience along with the veterans she meets.

Meet Me At A Funeral (2015) Short Narrative 13 min ENGLISH  USA  Directed by Kerry Mondragon, Written by Zoe Kim
Starring Zoe Kim and Harrold Perrineau

Meet Me at a Funeral' is a story about one woman's journey to finding her purpose in life. Struggling with long-time depression, Gloria finds herself on a hospital bed after an unsuccessful suicide attempt. At her bedside, she finds an ill-fated young girl named Josie who asks why she's in the hospital. When Gloria refuses to engage with her, Josie asks for a favor - ultimately changing Gloria's life as she knows it.
