The Baldwin Sisters
Everwood Farmstead Foundation is proud to launch our 5th anniversary season of the Artist Series with The Baldwin Sisters on Saturday, May 21st!
Christina Baldwin and Jennifer Baldwin Peden are among the most talented of the Twin Cities classical artists. Their easy partnership infuses grace, beauty and humor into songs and storytelling. This rare, intimate evening in the barn will bring them back to their farm roots mixing soaring arias with natural bird songs and buzzing bees. If you have never experienced opera before, there could not be a better introduction.
Christina serves as Artistic Associate, music director and performer with The Moving Company, based in Minneapolis, MN. Christina's frequent Guthrie Theater collaborations range from multiple Shakespeare works and contemporary plays, to musical theater and operetta (PBS national broadcast of HMS Pinafore). A collaborator with Theatre de la Jeune Lune for nearly 10 years, she co-adapted and performed the title role in their critically-acclaimed touring production of Carmen. She is a frequent soloist and recording artist with the Minnesota Orchestra. Christina has appeared with other companies such as The Jungle Theater, Park Square Theater, Great American History Theater, American Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Minnesota Opera. Christina performed on "A Prairie Home Companion", and lent her voice to animated short films by the Dutch filmmaker Rosto A.D (Cannes Film Festival award-winner).
Trained initially as a classical vocalist, Jennifer began to develop a passion for theater experiences which integrate music, movement, and drama through a decade-long collaboration with the Tony award winning company, Theatre de la Jeune Lune and through extensive work with Nautilus Music-Theater. She has performed memorable roles with local companies such as The Moving Company, Ordway, Minnesota Orchestra, Skylark Opera, Minnesota Opera, History Theater, Guthrie Theater, and nationally with American Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre and various orchestras. She has been a featured guest on "A Prairie Home Companion", has appeared in a motion picture (Drop Dead Gorgeous), and has done voice work on award-winning short films. She has won an Ivey Award as well as a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist's Initiative Grant for productions with Nautilus Music-Theater.
In addition to staring in numerous stage productions together, for over 10 years Jennifer and Christina have collaborated to bring dynamic opera/musical theater education programs to public schools throughout Minnesota.
Everwood's Pay-What-You-Can ticket price is simple - choose your ticket price from the list above. One-half of your ticket price will be provided to the artists and the other half will be distributed through Everwood's Aspiring Artists Fund. The Fund allows arts-focused teachers in Barron, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties to let us know directly about exciting projects that need support so their students can flourish. We'll reveal the recipient(s) at each performance. Since 2010, Everwood has donated almost $10,000 to local school programs.
