Band in Seattle live television taping with Fauna Shade and Hibou
What's more Seattle than supporting your local businesses? Supporting your local musicians, that's what. So be a responsible Northwestern-er and get yourself down to Victory Studios for the taping of our next episode of Band in Seattle with artists Fauna Shade and Hibou on April 22nd, 2016. Each band will perform a 45-minute concert, followed by a filmed interview and music trivia webisode, sponsored in part by American Music. Front doors open at 6PM at Victory Studios, 2247 15th Avenue West (near the Interbay Golf Center) and the concert ends approximately at 10PM.
Fauna Shade: A review of Fauna Shades single Marzipan described their sound as Floydian zapping electronic wiggles. This simultaneously whimsical yet vague description fits the band perfectly: their sound bounces through all the psychedelic subgenres, with droning stoner fuzz meeting some of Tame Impalas catchier melodies, all set to a patient, mid-tempo shoegaze backdrop. The Everett, Washington, outfit describe their entry into the local scene through EMPs Sound Off! as at times uncomfortably competitive but they were pleasantly surprised to have come in second and still seem comically uneasy discussing their success as a band: they quickly turn the conversation away from their rising-star status to talk with Audioasis host Sharlese about their very well-fed cats. The songs, cuts from their debut album, Baton Rouge, drift through heavily effected but perfectly composed hills and valleys until they hit us with a surprise Clarence Clemons-esque sax solo to close out Delirium. As they end their set blessing us with their recommendation for the best Hawaiian-fusion restaurant in Everett, were left staring at the Sasquatch ticket page hungry for the only chance to see them play live for the scheduled future.
Hibou: Peter Michel is a 20 year old Seattleite who creates music under the alias Hibou. Michel toured North America and Europe as the drummer of Captured Tracks band Craft Spells. After a year of non-stop touring, the high school student felt his life with the band had ran its course, and that it was time to begin creating his own music. In January 2013 he released a few songs, and soon after received press recognition and positive feedback. Songs Glow and Hollow have already been featured on international websites and radio shows such as Fat Cat Records, NME, Sonic Playground, Dots and Dashes, and The Line Best of Fit. With a live act in the works, Michel is excited to start touring with Hibou.
