Isadora Duncan's 139th Birthday Celebration on May 13-14, 2016
May 13-14 | Salon Performances IDDF presents its signature Salon series, featuring Company dancers Lori Belilove, Emily D'Angelo, Faith Kimberling, Morgana Mellett, and Nikki Poulos, with live accompaniment by pianist Matthew Martin Ward. The Salon series are rare opportunities for audiences to see original troupes in an intimate setting.
On Friday, May 13, the program, titled "You were wild once, don't let them tame you." includes a pre-show lecture "Isadora: the original lean-in feminist and wild woman" by Lori Belilove. Repertory includes: Brahm's waltzes "The Many Faces of Love", and Chopin's "Valse Brilliante", waltzes, etudes, and mazurkas.
On Saturday, May 14, the program draws upon "Inspirations of the Greek Ideal". Highlight includes Schubert's waltzes "Lullabye", "Champagne", and "Tanagra", and a suite of dances from C.W. Gluck's opera "Orfeo": "Dance of the Furies", "Dance of the Blessed Spirits", and "Cherubim".
Both performances are followed by cake and bubbly with The Company. Tickets start at $20, $30 for preferred seating.
Proceeds for both events go towards The Company's performing tour to Greece.
