Jake Xerxes Fussell House Concert
First really caught wind of Jake Xerxes Fussell on the Oxford Magazine 2015 Southern music sampler. The focus for last years annual edition was music of Georgia and being a native of Columbus, Fussell clearly passed the first wicket. One listen to the subject song and its easy to say his inclusion is well earned. These days based out of Durham, N.C. the singer and guitarist Fussells self-titled 2015 debut record on Paradise of Bachelors Records , produced by and featuring the wonderful William Tyler, transmutes ten arcane folk and blues tunes into vibey cosmic laments and crooked riverine rambles. Son of folklorist, curator, and photographer Fred C. Fussell, artistic genes obviously are in the blood. Back to that Oxford American music sampler, one listen to that song set us on a B-line to snag Jake to play our house concert series. Suffice to say, we are stoked to welcome him to the Roots Hoot House Concerts fold on Friday, June 10. Its our 2015-16 season finale and we promise a good one (and probably right there with last years finale featuring John Moreland). Its a BYOB-only show with doors at 7 pm and music starting at 7:30 pm.
