Dear Patrons: We look forward to seeing you this weekend, May 68 for DANCE+DESIGN I: Shaping the Dancer. http://www.acbdances.com/dance-design/ American Contemporary Ballet (ACB) is located on the 32nd floor of The BLOC at 700 S. Flower Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017 (between 7th and 8th Streets). Please note that the building is under construction; we recommend allowing extra time for parking. Doors open thirty minutes prior to the performance for drinks and live jazz. Each one-hour performance is followed by a reception with the artists. ACB Parking & Directions Valet Parking Valet parking ($40) is available at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles, located at 711 S. Hope Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017; the entrance is just south of 7th on the west side of Hope. From the valet stand, simply proceed through the hotel lobby to the courtyard. At the courtyard turn left toward Macys and follow the sidewalk around until you reach The BLOC, 700 S. Flower Street. Once in the lobby, use the elevator bank on the right (north) side and go to the 32nd floor. ACB restrooms are located on the 31st floor. Self-Parking Self-park lots are located directly across the street from The BLOC on Flower between 7th and 8th: Midtown Garage, located at 725 S. Flower, and another at the corner of 8th and Flower with a large PARKING sign on the right-hand side (entrance on 8th). Both lots offer $6 parking after 4:00 P.M. Please note that these rates are subject to change. If you park in one of the lots across the street, the entrance to the building faces east toward the new courtyard of The BLOC, which is under construction. From the corner of 7th and Flower, walk east on 7th for 100 feet, turn right onto the courtyard sidewalk, and the entrance to 700 S. Flower is ahead on the right. Once in the lobby, use the elevator bank on the right (north) side and go to the 32nd floor. ACB restrooms are located on the 31st floor.

Ballet is one of the most complex arts in existence; but that complexity is created with layers of form and rhythm which are themselves fairly simple and easily understood.

DANCE+DESIGN I invites you inside the dancers studio to see these layers broken down, explained, and then put back together. You'll see American Contemporary Ballet dancers in an actual training session while Artistic Director Lincoln Jones reveals the principles, challenges, and objectives behind the exercises, and how each element of technique contributes to the whole.

Then see the formal beauty of ballet with new eyes as these elements are combined in a performance of the opening pas de deux of George Balanchines masterpiece, La Source.

Each one-hour performance is followed by a reception with the artists, drinks, and live jazz.
