The Power of Positivity for INTERMEDIATE IMPROVISERS with Lisa Rowland & Ted DesMaisons Saturday, April 23, 2016 2-4pm Location: The Pilates Studio at The Elmwood complex at 104 Russell St. (Rt. 9 and West Street), Hadley/Downstairs (Plan on getting there about 5-10 min. early to settle in so the workshop can start promptly.) $35 per person
Exercise your positivity muscles in this workshop that asks the question, "what if nothing were wrong?" San Francisco-based improvisors Lisa Rowland and Ted DesMaisons explore the ways that holding off conflict at the beginning of a scene and practicing the art of making positive choices can make our scenes more pleasant to watch and playand fill them with greater potential! This workshop will focus especially on scene starts and you will have lots of opportunity to practice and play. Come explore the power and potential of positivity.
***PRE-REQUISITE: This workshop is only for students who have completed or are currently in Zen of Improv 3 and above (Zen of Improv As A Practice and Mosie's Next Leap in Improv fall in that category, so this is your workshop! Yay!) ***
About your teachers:
Lisa Rowland- Based in San Francisco and having traveled all over the world to spread the good word of improv, Lisa Rowland has performed, coached, and conducted corporate trainings with BATS Improv for more than eight years. Students from Palo Alto and the Presidio to Amsterdam and Arabia rave about the way she combines power and generosity in the service of their learning. A founding member of the groundbreaking Improv Playhouse of San Francisco, a current faculty member at Stanford University and an uncannily astute observer of whats needed next, Lisa was named the 2012 San Francisco Actor of the Year. www.lisarowland.com
Ted DesMaisons- Ted DesMaisons has been synthesizing innovative approaches to teaching and learning for over 25 years. A graduate of Stanford Business and Harvard Divinity Schools, he serves as US Coordinator and Lead Teacher Trainer for the Mindfulness in Schools Project and is a UMASS-trained Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor. Ted studied improvisation with Patricia Ryan Madson, BATS Improv, and the Loose Moose Theatre, and has performed with the Stanford Improvisors; Walking the Dog Theater company of Hudson, NY; and the undefeated three-time BATS Cave Match champion group, Teddy Likey. He writes regularly about improv, contemplation and positive reinforcement on his blog at AnimaLearning.com/blog
