Too Much Information!
On July 6th, 7th, and 8th, Starling Productions will stage its fourth edition of "Too Much Information!" an often sold-out stage production featuring true monologues developed over the course of a weekly writing and performing workshop, taught by executive director Eva Tenuto and writing workshop leader Sari Botton.
Each of the three performances will be unique, featuring 10-12 short monologues by three distinct casts of writer/performers all participants in TMI Project's three workshops. Friday will be co-ed; Saturday and Sunday's performances will be women only.
Friday cast: Donna Sherman, Brian Macaluso, Forest Hutchinson, Jude Pernot, Franklin Demuth, MacKenzie Kell, Chris Butler, Bart Everly, Kristen Garnier, Peter Wallace, Diana Freid
Saturday cast: Julie Novak, Tamara Natoli, Valerie Eagle, Wendy Weinrich, Amy Glavasich, Mourka, Verna Gillis, Zoe Levy, Ilyse Simon, Megan Leigh
Sunday cast: Eva Tenuto, Sari Botton, Suse Volk, Becca Pernot, Nicole Breitman, Jennifer Lee, Jess Blumberg, Erica Pivko, Patty Curry, Jamie Rios
"Too Much Information!" (TMI) was launched in 2010, after Starling founder/director Eva Tenuto had directed the Vagina Monologues twice and wanted to get women writing and telling their own stories instead. She put the focus on getting the women to tell the parts of their stories that they usually leave out because they're too embarrassing or painful.
From one edition to the next, "Too Much Information!" explores the kinds of stories we are typically afraid to tell, but long to hear. There's something both cathartic and connective about revealing our deepest and darkest not to mention our most embarrassing moments. The personal is universal, and in sharing their stories, TMI writers/performers help to reveal common threads in all our lives.
TMI celebrates the tradition of storytelling, and aims to elevate it to a higher level of theatrical performance. The result is monologues that touch, move and inspire, written and performed by people from all walks of life. In presenting a diverse mix of stories from all corners of our world, TMI strives to bring about greater understanding of people we often know least about.
"Come hear the truth about our transitions, challenges and moments of growth, pride and accomplishment," suggests Tenuto, who will perform all three dates, as will Botton. "Yes, we're a bit reluctant to stand in front of an audience and tell our sometimes painful truth but we're going to do it anyway! Because sharing our stories is empowering and uplifting to both actor and audience! You'll laugh, you'll cry and maybe you'll share your own TMI in the car ride home!"
