In Scena - Pinocchio Fellini
Pinocchio Fellini Based on Carlo Collodis Pinocchio Written and directed by Titta Ceccano
Produced by Matutateatro
A childhood classic that has spanned music, theater and cinema. This new youth theater production by Compagnia Matuteatro is born in collaboration with the Teatro della Caduta of Turin. It reimagines the story of the worlds most famous wooden puppet inside a Felliniesque world. The adventures of Pinocchio, narrated with ease, reach their full evocative power. They envelop the audience in their imaginary world as both children and grown-ups surrender their imagination to the beautiful combination of theater as fairytale.
The show features numerous different elements including live music, choreographed dance, and shadow puppetry.
SYNOPSIS The piece tells the nearly unabridged story of Pinocchio with all its essential moments: the belly of the whale, the field of miracles, the land of toys, the fairy with turquoise hair. A true educational journey that transforms the impertinent wooden puppet into a sensible flesh-and-bone boy.
DIRECTORS NOTE It had to happen sooner or later: Pinocchio had to meet Fellini. I had this idea in mind for years, ever since I collaborated with a group of young adults in a mental health department. There, I created PinocchioAmarcord, a piece that injected the actors own childhood memories within the classic Pinocchio plot. I have since been searching for a group of young professional actors to bring to life this wild journey, set to the music of Nino Rota. Once I found them, Pinocchio Fellini was born - and finally Pinocchio the puppet met Fellini the liar. Titta Ceccano
