In Scena - Adam & Eve
Adam & Eve Written and directed by Mauro Santopietro With Mauro Santopietro, Alessia Giangiuliani Winner of the Lazio Region Bando di Produzione for new plays
Eve: Lets eat the apple. Adam: What if we find a worm? Eve: Maybe theres no such thing and we just invented its name. Do you know what it is? Adam: No. But I dont know you that well either. Why should I trust you? Eve: So that we can learn Adam: Let this be the first and last time.
Adam & Eve is composed of seven frames. Seven like the days in which God created the world, and like the number of days it took Adam and Eve to move away from God and from their home, Paradise. In this journey, the protagonists cross through entire eras and crucial moments in human history and evolution up to present day, where they embody a universal contemporary couple.
Adam & Eve tells the stories of our legendary ancestors, who fled from Paradise because of their need to conquer, to build, to discover, to love each other. It narrates the humorous, dramatic and poetic dynamics of a human couple on an increasingly exhausting quest for a sense of togetherness. It also explores the loss of identity that overtakes the two protagonists as the thirst for knowledge drives them away from their home, from their childhood playground, lost and forever cherished.
SYNOPSIS Starting with Adam and Eve, this piece is a symbolic journey in seven frames which crosses historical eras to arrive at present day, exploring the endless dynamics between man and woman. At one time lovers, rivals, together or hopelessly distant, but forever in search of a joint identity.
