April 29, DBS HYBRID III w/ Ben Willis & Zac Brunell
Our final HYBRID concert adjoins contemporary improvisation on double bass and classical music for percussion. Ben Willis, a bassist hailing from Ann Arbor, is an improvisor who knows how to grab your attention. Exploring sound is Ben's specialty - through unusual techniques and methods of sound creation, he leaves audiences bewitched. Music for cello joins Ben on this program, but not played on a cello - instead, on marimba by DBS head, Zac Brunell. Selections by J.S. Bach, Debussy, and more for the marimba, as well as newer music for solo percussion. Zac and Ben will create a brand new piece of music before the audience for this concert.
