Keep St. Pete Lit is pleased to name the first recipient of the LitSpace St. Petersburg Writers Residency. Michael Patrick Welch, author of four books chronicling disaster, recovery, and creativity in New Orleans, will join St. Petersburgs literary community for two weeks in April.
In addition to being the author of several books and novels, Michael Patrick Welch is a prolific freelance writer whose work has appeared in Newsweek, National Geographic, Vice, Salon, and The Guardian. In this workshop, he will focus on generating story ideas and writing pitches. Welch will also be available to give participants further critique and feedback via e-mail or in person for the duration of his stay in St. Pete.
Michael Patrick Welch is the author of The Donkey Show (Equator Books), Yalls Problem (Dirty Coast), and New Orleans: The Underground Guide v 1-3, a directory of music and culture far off the French Quarters beaten paths.
