Webb's City Cellar Bottle Release and Barrel Art Reveal
Join us for our next bottle release day at Green Bench Brewing! In addition to releasing two new bottles from our Webb's City Cellar Series we'll be revealing a new piece of artwork by John Hutcherson made from re-purposed barrel staves.
In 1925 James Earl "Doc" Webb opened a small store in downtown St. Petersburg named Webb's City Drug Store. By 1951 the store covered more than seven blocks, housed seventy-seven departments, and served an average of 60,000 customers daily. Webb's City Drug Store had a gift shop, hardware store, meat market, beauty salon, travel agency, clothing departments, cafeteria, multiple coffee shops and soda fountains. It was considered a forerunner to the modern-day shopping center. Webb's City Cellar Series is a line of wine and/or spirit barrel aged sour and/or wild beers aged in our climate controlled cellar. Each one of a kind beer is named after something found at the original Webb's City.
Our next Webbs City Cellar Series release will consist of two bottles, both sour:
Lot 2 - 8.3% ABV - Sour Stout aged in Four Roses Bourbon Barrels for 10 months on Blackberry and Blueberry with Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus.
Shopping Cart Cowboys - 5.3% ABV - Golden Sour aged in White Wine Barrels on Grapefruit for several months with Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus.
Lot 2 is the smallest bottle yield weve ever produced so there will be a two bottle/person limit on pre-sale bottles. To make it simple, were also pre-selling Shopping Cart Cowboys with a two bottle/person limit.
If you pre-purchase bottles you will have an opportunity to buy individual bottles after you pick up your allotment at the brewery. There will be a bottle limit on both brands that will be announced at a later date. For now, you can pre-purchase either one or two bottles of each brand.
On April 9th you will be allowed to enter the brewery at 11 AM (1 hour before the public) with your ticket in order to pick up your pre-purchased bottles. You will then have an opportunity to purchase additional bottles at a yet to be determined limit/brand. Both brands will be on tap in the tasting room for you to purchase pours.
