EVERGREEN:
Since their October 2010 founding in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Evergreen has been on a journey of improvisation and instinct. Their music pushes the boundaries of traditional styles by blending psychedelic rock, jazz, funk, country and folk into a soulful and unpredictable groove. An Evergreen experience includes a firm backbeat and exciting percussive accents, funky yet thunderous bass grooves, twin guitars with interlocking riffs, and even old time vocal harmonies. Their live show is an integral part of their music, serving as a remarkable display of their musical expression and original material. Evergreen has played more than 100 concerts in their first three years of existence, frequenting their Wisconsin stomping grounds and travelling as far as Colorado in order to share their music.
INGLORIOUS STRING BASTARDS (FRESH PICKED GRASS):
Fresh Picked Grass is a budding bluegrass group from Appleton, Wi. The band performs often in the Fox Valley area, specializing in up-tempo foot-stompers, barn-burners, and butt-wigglers. They are known for peppering their shows with spectacularly mediocre comedy and numerous songs about food, drink, going from one place to another, and jail. They have a wide-ranging repertoire of pieces, including frivolous feel-good tunes as well as tunes with deeper political and social messages à la Peter Tosh. The band consists of five members, Jay Vosters, mandolin; Mike Malek, banjo; Lucas St. Mary, guitar; Martha McDonnell, fiddle; and Nick Allen, bass. Jay has been playing mandolin for seven years, performs with several groups from the area, and holds the group record for 'seventh chords played.' Big Mike Malek hails from Winneconne, has also been played for seven years, and enjoys long walks on the beach and tuning. Lucas 'Tiny' St. Mary, of Neenah, has similarly played for seven years, and provides the looks of the group, as well as the inspiration or backstory to the majority of our songs. Nick Allen grew up in Madison, has played bass for six years, and is currently attending Lawrence University, where he majors in Red Dog Mixology.
