Deathtrap is a treat for audiences offering plot twists and surprises at every turn. With references to a play within the play, it provides a behind the scenes look at creating engaging theater. Deathtrap holds the Broadway record for the longest running comedy-thriller and received a Tony Award Nomination for Best Play. Deathtrap was adapted into a film in 1982. Deathtrap is directed by Michelle Merksamer and features Michael Peters, Christopher Willson, Mary Bennett, Lynn Carasali and Lewis Zaumeyer.
THE STORY Sidney Bruhl, a playwright stuck in a writing slump, receives an unpublished script from former student, Clifford Anderson. The play, "Deathtrap," is a five character, two-act thriller so perfect in its construction that "a gifted director couldn't even hurt it." Out of his desperate desire to once again be the toast of Broadway, Sidney, with his wife Myra's help, devises a plan to collaborate with the budding playwright. But shortly after Clifford agrees, it's clear that things are not how they appear! Indeed, even Helga Ten Dorp, a nosy psychic from next door, and Porter Milgram, Sidney's observant attorney, can only speculate where the line between truth and deception lies.
Deathtrap opens with a post-show opening night champagne reception and appetizers from the Wild River Grille. The show runs weekly with shows Wednesdays through Sundays. Evening shows begin at 8:00 pm and the two Sunday matinees on April 24 and May 1 begin at 2:00 PM. The second matinee is followed by a talkback with the company and the audience. The doors open a half an hour before curtain time. (Artist night is Wednesday April 20th at 8 PM ALL TICKETS are $10.) Suggested for ages 14 and up.
