Join 18 Reasons and Alemany Farm for the latest in our Dinner Conversation series. Join us for a discussion about the realities of Urban Farming What Is It Good For?
We will tackle questions like: Can we feed cities from within cities? Is it worth is to have medium scale food cultivation in urban areas in the first place? Is urban farming mostly about a kind of aesthetic revolution? About building community? Or environmental education? And when it is done to meet production goals, can it ever be profitable, and, if so, what would that look like?
Here is a little about the folk who run Alemany Farm: Friends of Alemany Farm is a volunteer group that manages the horticulture, volunteer, and educational programs at Alemany Farm, a 4.5 acre organic farm ecosystem in southeast San Francisco.
Their Mission: Friends of Alemany Farm grows food security and educates local residents about how they can become their own food producers. We strive to increase ecological knowledge and habitat value, and to sow the seeds for economic and environmental justice.
