Music Makers and Stigma Shakers - The After Party!
To celebrate the 2nd annual Music Makers and Stigma Shakers: A Benefit Concert to Break the Silence on Mental Illness, we're throwing an after party at Sugar Nightclub this year ft. The Boom Booms plus guests. All funds raised will go to NEED2 Suicide Prevention and BCSS Victoria to support mental health in our community.

THE BOOM BOOMS

Some of the tightest, smoothest, sexiest soul and funk produced in the city right now comes courtesy of six guys who all grew up within a few blocks of each other on Vancouvers East Side.

The Boom Booms are an Indie Soul band from Vancouver, BC. The group consists of brothers Aaron Ross (lead vocals) and Sean Ross (keys), Tom Van Deursen (guitar), Geordie Hart (bass), Richard Brinkman (drums), and Theo Vincent (percussion, drums).

The Boom Booms love and live for the road. Theyve busked across Europe, performed in the Brazilian Amazon and Rios famous Casa Rosa, toured in a Scamper RV the 12,000 km roundtrip from Vancouver to Panama and circumnavigated the United States twice in their yellow School Bus.

Influenced by travel, the Booms released their latin-laced debut album ¡Hot Rum! in 2011 - which earned them a spot in The Peak Performance Project. They won second place, picking up a cash prize of $75,000, which enabled them to produce and release their travel documentary, Boom Boom Brazil. The documentary explores the rich and unpredictable adventures of an up-and-coming band on tour in Brazil and raises awareness of the Belo Monte Dams impact.

Their sophomore release with Grammy Award-winning producer Chin Injeti Love Is Overdue came out Oct. 4th 2014, and draws more on childhood influences such as Bill Withers and Al Green.
