Battle Spring Garden Pests with IPM!
pring gardening in the Bay Area is simply beautiful...until the pests show up. Learn how to apply the central tenets of integrated pest management (IPM) within your home garden and landscape to keep pests under control while protecting the environment and your community. Our presenter will explain how to carry out specific IPM programs for several key spring pests, including aphids, snails & slugs, codling moths, and the spotted wing drosophila. Presenter Bio:Dr. Andrew Sutherland is the Urban IPM Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension and UC IPM in the Bay Area, serving Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. He holds advanced degrees in entomology and horticulture, is a Board Certified Entomologist, and has been classically trained as an IPM practitioner. He serves as a conduit for IPM-related information and resources for urban pest management professionals, municipalities, schools, public housing, and UCCE Master Gardeners. He also conducts a regional applied research program developing and evaluating IPM strategies and tactics for key urban pests.
