Lark Eden in Ketchum, Idaho
Two nights only!
Tracing the lives and life-long friendships of three Southern women beginning in the Depression era and continuing through the early years of the new century, Lark Eden offers a poetic exploration of the ties that bind lives together as tightly as family, and as surely as love. From frog catching girls with skinned knees to world wizened grandmothers, Lark Eden follows these three lives through personal trials and victories no less daunting than the historical tribulations that provide the backdrop to these everyday American lives.
Lark Eden had its world premiere with a special limited run presentation at Theater Schmeater in April of 2011 and again in April 2012. Since then, Lark Eden has enjoyed two successful runs at the New American Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida the second run a "back by popular demand!" opening to its 2011/2012 season. Later this spring, Lark Eden will run in the Tandem Series at the award winning freeFall Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, Florida (voted Best Professional Theatre Company in Florida by Broadwayworld.com). Slated for a potential off Broadway run, Theater Schmeater offers Ketchum audiences the opportunity to see this riveting, heartwarming show before New York audiences do.
Emily, Mary and Thelma are fast and true friends in school, but as life goes on and homework gives way to heart throbs, heartaches and the harshness of time, their friendships never falter. Lark Eden author Natalie Symons will direct Theater Schmeater's production. Reprising her role as Thelma is Teri Lazzara, Theater Schmeater's Managing Director. Returning to Theater Schmeater is Katie Driscoll in the role of Emily, while Schmee newcomer Michelle Chiachiere will play Mary.
Lark Eden scenic design is by Al Angel, with lighting design by Dave Hastings and sound design by Doug Staley. Costume design is by Julia Evanovich. Jessamyn Bateman-Iino is the stage manager.
Natalie Symons, (playwright) is a one time Seattle resident now living in Tampa, Florida. "I've often been moved, sometimes haunted by the way in which old friendships persist as time eludes. For those inconspicuous souls amongst us for those whose lives are seemingly unspectacular yet the fingerprints that they unknowingly leave on the hearts of those they love endure against the tumult and heartbreak of time."
Ms. Symons' regional acting credits include "the Courtesan" in The Comedy of Errors (freeFall Theatre Company), The Vagina Monolouges (American Stage), "Thelma" in Lark Eden (New American Theater), and most recently she portrayed "Becky" in Becky Shaw (freeFall Theatre Company). Before moving to Tampa Bay she worked as an actress in the Pacific Northwest for over ten years. Some favorite roles include "Savage" in Savage in Limbo (Belltown Theatre Center), "Tillie" in The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds (Northwest Actors Studio) and "Brenda" in Moonlight Theatre Company's long running Four Dogs and a Bone (which also played at the nexStage in 2000).
