Girlvolution 2016!
Girlvolution is a Powerful Voices production that invites the community to participate in collective dialogue and restorative change facilitated by youth voice and agency. Our ActiveVistas program is a 12 week employment program for 11 girls who will be supported by 10 Adult Allies to create and present an interactive workshop on a social justice topic that impacts them and their community.
Calling All: Youth + Allies of All Gender Identities APRIL 23, 2016 | 10am-4pm (Registration at 9:30) Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club 4520 MLK JR. Way S, Seattle METRO Bus #8, 42, 39 and Columbia Light Rail Station
WHAT: Social justice workshops created and led by Powerful Voices and Y-WE youth. Art and performances by local youth under 21. Community resource fair. Free breakfast and lunch.
WHO: Community members of ALL genders ages 11 and up.
COST: FREE for youth (under 21). $25 or pay what you can for adults 21 and over. FREE for adults who accompany groups of 5 or more youth. No one turned away for lack of funds.
This year we are proud to be featuring art from Coyote Central, film by Reel Grrls and workshops by Young Women Empowered (Y-WE). This is our 7th year! Venue is ADA accessible with a gender neutral bathroom available. Tickets will be available at the door.
