A circus ship runs aground off the coast of Maine, and the animals on board must swim through chilly waters to the nearest shore. Unexpected friendships unfold through courage, kindness, and traditional Maine island hospitality. With humor and empathy, Van Dusen's circus menagerie comes to life in a new play ideal for all ages. The Circus Ship is based on the book by the same name by local author Chris Van Dusen.
Based on the book by Chris Van Dusen, adapted for our stage by Reba Short. Produced with generous support from the Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust. Copyright 2009 by Chris Van Dusen, Published by Candlewick Press Inc.
