Can a butterfly flap her wings on one side of the world and set off an earthquake on the other? A subservient housewife safely ensconced in her domestic routine has her serenity shattered when a long-lost friend lands on her doorstep and forces her to confront the question of which life is more worth living: one filled with happiness or one bursting with meaning?
