Season Pass Leaf Peeper Concerts 2016
Our 2016 Season brings back some of our favorite performers - together with several exciting new faces. Similarly - our musical offerings will include some familiar classics, some not so familiar and a new work commissioned for us.
This new piece will be featured in our first program, AUTUMN ECHOES on September 10th. Written by the talented young composer Tonia Ko, this duet for cello and piano will be performed by the husband and wife team of Edward Arron (cello) and Jeewon Park (piano). Also performing at this concert will be Tessa Lark (violin) and Paul Green (clarinet). Works by Brahms, Schoenfeld and Beethoven will comprise the rest of the program.
The second concert of our season, FROM EAST TO WEST, on September 24th will be performed by the internationally renowned Shanghai String Quartet (Weigang Li, violin; Yi-Wen Jiang, violin; Honggang Li, viola; Nicholas Tzavaras, cello). Our music director Eugenia Zukerman, who has performed extensively with the quartet, will be joining them. The program includes works by Mozart, Zhou Long, Arthur Foote and Edvard Grieg.
Our third concert of the season, CLASSICALLY ROMANTIC, on October 8th, will feature Raman Ramakrishnan (cello) and his wife, Melissa Reardon (viola). They will be joined by Jessica Lee (violin) and Eugenia Zukerman (flute). The program will include two works by Schubert and Mozart's great Divertimento K563.
The final concert of the season, BASKING IN THE BAROQUE, on October 22nd will be our Annual Newell Jenkins Baroque concert. Beloved Baroque arias and duets from the operas, oratorios and cantatas of Vivaldi, Handel, Bach and others will be performed by Arianna Zukerman (soprano) and Heather Johnson (mezzo soprano) and Giovanni Reggioli (piano). Excerpts from JS Bach Cello Suites will be played by Astrid Schween - a long-time favorite of Leaf Peeper concertgoers, and newly appointed cellist of the famed Julliard Quartet.
