Tickets for this event on Saturday, April 30, 7 pm, are $20, include all taxes and fees, admission for one to the signing line, and a paperback copy of her book, Hold Still. Tickets can be purchased from the Brown Paper Tickets website, event #2522156. There will be a $14 gift card option on the night of the event only.
For the event, a presentation by Sally Mann will be followed by a conversation with author and UWM associate professor Liam Callanan, who will also ask questions submitted by the audience.
In Hold Still, a unique interplay of narrative and image, Mann's preoccupation with family, race, mortality, and the storied landscape of the American South are revealed as almost genetically predetermined, written into her DNA by the family history that precedes her.
In lyrical prose and startlingly revealing photographs, she crafts a totally original form of personal history that has the page-turning drama of a great novel but is firmly rooted in the fertile soil of her own life.
