Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Day One: Bouts #2 & #4
This night will kick off the 2016 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam, the event where 40 poets from across Canada compete for the title of Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Championship, the reigning top ranked spoken word poet in the country. There will be ten poets in each bout, come and cheer for the representative from your home city! Entry for this event guarantees attendees a stamp that acts as cover for the late night event, femcees!
Doors at 6:30pm. Bout #2 starts at 7pm. Bout #4 starts at 8:30pm. Femcees starts at 10:30pm at Café Deux Soleils.

About the late night event, Femcees:
Do you turn down for nothing? Must it be the money? Still eating Moms spaghetti?
Or maybe you're just tired of the patriarchy. Never fear, we've got your antidote right here! Four fierce female emcees firing on all cylinders to take you to your poetic high ground. For flows that roll like 24s get to Cafe Deux Soleils at 10:30 PM to see how many mics these incredible rappers rip on the daily.
Femcees features undeniable flyness that is Missy D, Horsepowar, JB the First Lady, and Kimmortal.
Both CIPS Bouts as well as Femcees are All Ages events. General seating. Box office and Will Call will open with doors at 6:30pm. Box office is CASH ONLY. There is an ATM located directly across the street.
This show may contain strong language, controversial issues, and words that make you re-evaluate your life. Advance tickets are NOT mailed out; they can be picked up at the Will Call station at the venue. Box office and Will Call will open with doors at 6:30pm. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Havana Theatre is an accessible venue. To reach the theatre, you must pass through the restaurant to the gallery space. On the right, is a black door leading into the theatre. There is a narrow hallway and two doors to access the performance space, but no stairs.
Café Deux Soleils has been the main venue for the Vancouver Poetry Slam since 1999. It is sold out every Monday by fans of spoken word poetry. It is an iconic venue run by a staff that are friendly and promote progressive values. Café Deux Soleils is a semi-accessible venue to wheelchairs and scooters. They have recently completely renovated the bathrooms, installing three ungendered stalls. However there is no wheelchair-accessible bathroom.
