MAN VS SNAKE (Philly Premiere)
Cinedelphia Film Festival presents MAN VS SNAKE: THE LONG AND TWISTED TALE OF NIBBLER Co-director Andrew Seklir in attendance!
Obscure arcade cabinet Nibbler was the first video game that allowed players to achieve a billion points, a seemingly impossible number that was first reached by Ottumwa, Iowa native Timothy McVey in 1984 after 44.5 hours of continuous play. This feat brought Tim worldwide recognition and led to him being the first gamer in history to have a civic day set aside in his honor. His accomplishment inspired Italian kickboxer Enrico Zanetti to trump his score, which he supposedly did that very same year, though the record books refuse to acknowledge this due to a lack of evidence. The mere idea of his score being beaten inspires Tim to return to Nibbler 25 years later to prove that he is indeed the undisputed champion of the game.
Tim's journey is marked by hilariously unbelievable interference, jaw-dropping foul play, and the machinations of gaming legends including the notorious Dwayne Richard and King of Kong's beloved Billy Mitchell. Set at gaming conventions and the legendary Iowa-based Twin Galaxies arcade, Tim's modesty and drive paint him as an earnest hero who is determined to achieve a goal regardless of the odds stacked against him.
