Sherpa: The Memoir of Ang Tharkay
A book release party for the newest title in the Mountaineers Books Legends and Lore series.
"It is difficult to sing the praises of a sirdar who has such a magnificent roll of accomplishments and who is universally praised. Nevertheless I would like to say how much I appreciated his integrity, his devotion, his spirit of initiative, and his unequaled sense of the mountain."
Who is this paragon that H.W. Tilman described as a sort of Jeeves, Admirable Critchon, and Napoleon rolled into one?
Find out at the book launch for "Sherpa: The Memoir of Ang Tharkay" held on Wednesday, April 13, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Folio, Seattles newest space for literary adventure and discovery.
Please join publisher Mountaineers Books, noted Himalayan literature scholar Bill Buxton, and founder and CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear, Tashi Sherpa, in celebrating the first English-language edition of Ang Tharkays autobiography. First published in French in 1954, the book has long been a collectors item. Mountaineers Books is proud to announce it as the latest addition to its Legends and Lore series. The evening will feature readings, food, drink, books, and lively discussion.
Folio is located at 314 Marion Street in downtown Seattle. Free admission. Books available for purchase.
