Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)- Suicide Prevention
Date: April 8,2016 Time: 11 am- 1 pm Location: Cardinal Innovations- Mecklenburg Community Office 1100 S. Tryon St., Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28203
Every 15 to 20 minutes, a person in the United States dies by committing suicide. This training is designed to teach anyone how to save a life through three steps:
Question a person about suicide
Persuade the person to get help
Refer the person to the appropriate resources
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to appropriate help. QPR can be taught in as little as one hour Cost is $3 per person to cover the cost of the manual and snacks. This program requires a minimum of 8 participants.
