Music at the BoatShop: Swing 49
Every other month or so, the Gig Harbor BoatShop is proud to present our MUSIC AT THE BOATSHOP concert series.
Help us welcome * Swing 49 * for the next show, Friday, March 18th @ 7pm!
Tickets are $20 for the public, or $15 for BoatShop members. All ages show, open seating. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. You can also order tickets in person at the shop or by calling (253) 857-9344.
Swing 49 is a genre-meddling gypsy swing band straight out of the 49th state. They weave classic gypsy jazz tunes (ala Django Reinhardt) with classic jazz, "swingified" soul, blues, and original music. Somewhere between Ella Fitzgerald, Edith Piaf, and Aretha Franklin, Jackie Schafers powerful voice soars over a swinging guitar rhythm while lithe mandolin lines weave playful counter melodies. Even the most reluctant dancers will find themselves on the dance floor.
Swing 49 was the official house band for the wildly popular Anchorage songwriter showcase Parlor in the Round for the 2014-2015 season.
Past concerts at the BoatShop have generally sold out, so don't wait too long to get your tickets for this special venue, the last public example of Gig Harbor's working waterfront and maritime heritage.
