Young People's Symphony Orchestra Pops and Pre-Tour Concert
Young People's Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor David Ramadanoff and 100 young musicians will perform selections from the 2011-12 season and popular fare at this Pops concert before the orchestra embarks upon its tour to Central Europe.
The concert will feature a full program of music from the 2012-12 season, including works of Dvorak, Smetana, Debussy, Rimsky-Korsakov and popular music of Johann Strauss Jr. and Souza as a warm up and preview of the orchestra's upcoming June 20 to 29 tour of Central Europe to Prague, Bratislava, and Vienna.
David Ramadanoff has been Music Director/Conductor of YPSO for 23 years. Under his leadership, YPSO has grown to a membership of 100 players who range in age from 12 to 21 and hail from 28 Bay Area cities in six counties and has gained wide recognition as an outstanding youth ensemble. In addition to YPSO, he is conductor of Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, and Music Director and conductor of the Vallejo Symphony Orchestra and has guest conducted orchestras across the country.
Founded in Berkeley in 1936, YPSO is the oldest youth orchestra in California and the second oldest in the nation.
The concert is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Berkeley.
