STRING ENCOUNTER BRAZIL-PDX
Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Almir Côrtes (originally from Bahia, Brazil) will perform for one night in Portland! Almir is a gifted musician and academic researcher of Brazilian music. He plays genres considered "traditional" or "regional" (choro, frevo, baião, etc) with a contemporary improvisational approach. Almir is on the faculty of the 2012 Mandolin Symposium, has been a visiting scholar of Jazz at Indiana University, and has given music workshops worldwide. Don't miss this rare chance to see Almir live in Portland!
This show will include performances by Portland's own choro groups - Rio Con Bio, and The Brazillionaires.
