After ten years of sold-out shows in Bellingham, Washington, Bellingham Repertory Dance is coming to Seattle with their newest show, Decade. For two nights only at Velocity Dance Center, BRD will present Decade, an evening of six of the strongest and most audience-loved pieces gathered from the full ten years of the companys history. In celebration of ten years of growth, this April marks the first full-length Seattle show for the seasoned dancers of BRD.
Selecting works that have most dazzled audiences over the companys ten-year tenure in Bellingham, Decade is a diverse concert that will challenge and engage. Ryan Corriston's Exodus (Virginia) is a frenetic whirlwind of bodies that physically and thematically launches from constraint to freedom. Marlo Martins Look At Me With Your Eyes Wide Shut (Seattle) ranges from playful partying to lifting and flying with a sound score of equal range. Jackie-Lou Breakey's Breathing Required (Las Vegas) is at turns precise as clockwork and evocative of the funk and sass of voguing. The lineup also features a duet from Mary Sheldon Scott, a haunting solo from Eva Stone, and Deb Wolfes aerobic quintet, Arc Angle.
Established in 2006 Bellingham Repertory Dances mission is to bring high-quality contemporary dance performances to our local community, provide professional-level performance opportunities to Whatcom Countys most accomplished dancers, and to support established and emerging choreographers. Bellingham Repertory Dance is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Tickets will be available at the door for $20 but are available at a discount if purchased in advance.
