Accidents of Being
Accidents of Being based on the poetry of Mary Rohrer-Dann adapted for the stage by Cynthia Mazzant
Mold speckles the gilt mirrors and paintings. The museum rooms echo and sigh. A lone librarian dusts unopened books
150 years of neighborhood residents. From the railroad tycoon whose ancestor came over with William Penn, to the housekeeper who married his only heir and left the estate to the people of Philadelphia. From a fugitive slave passing through while hidden in casket, to immigrants from war-ravaged Europe, children who view the wooded park as wilderness of dreams, frontier of possibility, farmers, factory workers, homemakers, artists, schemers, and one or two ghosts. We hear their voices in Accidents of Being.
With Cynthia Mazzant, Elaine Meder-Wilgus, Lissa Ramirez and Mike Waldhier.
