"Silhouettes Of Service" A New Docudrama By Gregory DeCandia
"Silhouettes of Service" was commissioned by BCKSEET Productions (www.bckseet.com) and developed at the University of North Carolina in the departments of Dramatic Art and Communication. As a graduate student preparing for a semester-long character study of Shakespeare's Coriolanus at UNC, Gregory DeCandia set out to research the true meaning of serving ones country. With a focus on his current state of residence, North Carolina, which is the "Nation's Most Military-Friendly State," DeCandia interviewed 26 men and women who serve. These interviews were transcribed and ultimately 18 soldiers' stories are staged in this dynamic solo documentary theater piece under the direction of Joseph Megel (processseries.unc.edu). "Silhouettes of Service" hopes shed light on the sacrifice made by the brave 1% who protect the remaining 99% of the US public. SOS was awarded the 2016 Community Impact Award from UNC Chapel Hill.
