20 YEARS OF MADNESS
Cinedelphia Film Festival presents 20 YEARS OF MADNESS (Philadelphia Premiere) w/ 30 MINUTES OF MADNESS creator/doc subject Jerry White Jr. in attendance!
1990s Michigan-based public access show 30 Minutes of Madness embraced the grunge/punk counterculture of the era to create a program that showcased the humor and talents of a group of high school outsiders, punks, skaters, and artists. Kids in the Hall-styled sketch comedy, '90s-era MTV attitude, and the trash art stylings of John Waters are all evident in the show, which serves as a valuable time capsule of the wild suburban youth of that time.
The documentary 20 Years of Madness follows Jerry White Jr., 30 Minutes of Madness creator, as he returns to his hometown of Rochester, Michigan to make a new episode for the shows twenty-year anniversary. As Jerry gets the old gang back together, he is forced to confront years of resentment, rebuild burnt bridges, and balance challenging personalities in the hope of reviving a once thriving creative community. Featuring archive footage culled from over 300 hours of analog video, the result is a sincere and intimate portrait of an underground community held together by the desire to make each other laugh and the memories of their friendship and creative collaboration.
