Smoke on the Mountain
Presented by Off Main Actors Group at Leeds Center for the Arts.
'Smoke on the Mountain' tells the story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a small country church in the North Carolina Smoky Mountains in 1938.
Pastor Oglethorpe, a young minister at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has invited the Sanders family to bring his small church into the "modern" world. The show features several heartwarming bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders family. Between songs, each family member witnesses - telling a story about an important event in his/her life. Although they try to appear perfect in the eyes of the congregation, it soon becomes clear they are quite hilariously imperfect.
The New York Post calls "Smoke on the Mountain' "totally beguiling...foot-stomping soul food."
