A Gem Among the Oaks -- The Paso Robles Pioneer Museum -- Joseph Carotenuti
The Paso Robles Pioneer Museum is a portal to the past. You travel through time as you visit multiple displays.
The museum is also a tribute to the many men and women who have devoted endless hours and years of effort to preserve local history. From a school house, to antique autos, to old time fire equipment, the Museum is a place to visit, revisit and wonder. Medicine, farming, home life, the post office, saddles and rifles are part of the cultural heritage displayed in a vast array of remembrances.
When you arrive for this course/tour, Joeseph Carotenuti will first provide you with a brief overview of the museum. Then you will see a brief and rare film that captures the burning of the landmark Paso Robles Hotel.
You will then join a docent-led group to tour the museum. The docents will provide commentary about the highlights of the various displays, and will answer your questions. You will be entranced by the many fascinating displays and will enjoy the too brief travel to yesteryear.
Joseph Carotenuti is a regular contributor to Journal Plus magazine and has written over 125 articles on local history. His articles are interesting remembrances of the people and places that have contributed to central coast history.
