March 2016 LAI Luncheon
Set to open for the start of the 2019-20 NBA season, the 18,000-seat Chase Center will anchor a district of 11 acres of restaurants, cafes, offices, public plazas and other amenities the neighborhood currently lacks, along with a new five-and-a half-acre public waterfront park. BIOGRAPHIES
DAVID KELLY David Kelly is in his fifth season with the Golden State Warriors. In the role of General Counsel and Vice President, Basketball Legal Affairs, Kelly serves as the teams chief legal officer and manages many of the company's key projects and initiatives on both the business and basketball sides of the operation, including legal matters related to the proposed new sports and entertainment center in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood.
Prior to joining the Warriors, David was a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP where he provided legal counsel to a variety of sports teams and related clients. David has a passion for music and he has toured extensively. His work as a musician has been featured in major television and print publications. David earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College in 1996 and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2004.
DAVID MANICA David Manica believes in stunning design and innovative functionality as the path to successful buildings. In his 20 years designing large public assembly facilities, David has forged a vision for some of the worlds highest-profile stadium, arena and convention projects totaling over $10 billion in construction. His comprehensive experience spans all phases of project development.
Prior to establishing his own design studio in 2007, MANICA Architecture, David worked for thirteen years as a Senior Project Designer at HOK Sport Venue and Event (now Populous), where he was responsible for leading the design of some of the largest and most recognized facilities in the world, including Toyota Center, Reliant Stadium, O2 Arena London, Beijing Olympic Arena, and the New Wembley Stadium in London, England. Now, as president and director of MANICA, his company's designs are recognized worldwide as some of the most innovative, iconic, functional, and cost-effective projects in the industry.
Mr. Manica has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas where he graduated with honors as Salutatorian in his class.
CLARKE MILLER Clarke Miller is a Senior Vice President at Strada, focusing on project management of Strada's development opportunities. He joined Strada in 2013 and has focused a significant amount of his time since then leading the development management activities on behalf of the Golden State Warriors for their new event center and mixed-use project in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco. In pursuit of the project entitlements, Clarke devoted much of his time engaging the community and City agencies on the project design, transportation strategies, and sustainability initiatives through community workshops and outreach meetings. Prior to joining Strada, Clarke was Director of Development and Acquisitions at Hines. At Hines, he led development projects, including the 70-acre campus expansion for VMware in Palo Alto. During his tenure at Hines, he was also responsible for asset management, leasing activities, and construction management for the 1.8 million square foot, $400 million portfolio of 20 properties throughout Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Peninsula. Clarke was a member of the Hines Global Sustainability Task Force and has been a LEED AP since 2006.
Clarke has an MBA from the University of California Berkeley and a B.A. from Brown University.
