Poultry Production: Help Your Flock Take Flight: Starting a Poultry Business
This poultry workshop will give people the tools to make an educated decision about getting into the poultry business for broilers or egg production. John Nelson, a local poultry expert will discuss raising and brooding day old chicks. He'll cover feed requirements, temperature control, space requirements and moving them out to pasture. John will also share different moveable housing options available to easily build yourself.
Dr. Rocio Crespo, poultry specialist from WSU Puyallup will discuss health challenges with poultry.
Accurately knowing your cost of production is crucial to becoming profitable. Laura Failey, owner of Hidden Meadows farm will walk through the finances of pricing your product.
Dr. Susan Kerr will share farm bio-security to keep your farm free of bird flu and other diseases.
